2Not great  May 07, 2007
By Patioman
The hardware on this heater immediately rusted. The panel over the propane tank does not fit correctly, so that the cover can not be secured in place. The diffusion hood over the heating element is relatively small so that the heat is contained in a small area around the heater.

1Endless Summer Patio Heater - Don't Buy it  Oct 24, 2007
By Alex
A couple of calls to customer service, many skinned knuckles and at least 8 hours of labor - and I still can't get this patio heater together (hence the name "endless summer?"). The hang up is "step 9" - attaching the gas line and regulator assembly. They simply don't attach. I've called the company and spoken to two people. They know this is a problem and kindly expressed their confidence in my ability to "get it done." I'm not a total incompetent and I'm a pretty strong guy. I've gone at this assembly in five different ways, lubed the fittings, etc. In my defense, my race car mechanic neighbor and a mechanical engineer friend also failed to mate these fittings. The replacement part I was sent also doesn't fit. At this point, I've got far more labor and frustration in this patio heater than it is worth - and, insult to injury, I'll likely have to pay to drop it off at the landfill.

5Perfect for our cool fall nights in Colorado  Sep 27, 2009
By Dougbert
Here's a link to the heater I received today: Uniflame 153100 Endless Summer Residential Outdoor Heater, Liquid Propane. I got the last one Gardenocity had in stock for $216 including the shipping. Great deal! [Edit: Looks like I was too happy, too soon. Gardenocity just re-listed the same unit for $176 with shipping. I don't know when they re-listed in the past few days (as of 9-26-09), but if you move fast, my $$$ loss is your gain! $40 less than the good deal I got!]

I've read one reviewer spent over 8 hours and couldn't get it put together (step #9 seemed to be their hang up). Following the instructions not to replace the access cover until about step 15 would have undoubtedly made this easier for them. Step #9 literally took me about 2-3 minutes at most. It's a very standard LP gas fitting. Just pull back the collar, push up on the gas pipe assembly from the bottom while you have it somewhat horizontal and well supported (I just used the box it came in), and let go of the collar. It's literally a snap.

I read another review that said the whole thing snapped together in 15 minutes. I suppose if you had a crack Indy race pit crew each working their separate sub-assemly in parallel, that just might be realistic.

I have slightly above average mechanical skills, and the mind of an engineer. While the instructions could have been a little more clear in spots, a little foward planning and some common sense will get you through just fine. Do you want the seam on the screen to face the back? Think about that when you intall it. BTW: you might consider wearing gloves when you handle the screen. Very sharp edges! Do you want the LP tank access door on the back away from the front control panel? Think about that when you attach the pole. Having said that, I'd consider allowing around 90 minutes or so from opening the box to the point of admiring your handy work. The quality of the product's parts and packaging were everything I would expect from any product I would consider to be very good to excellent.

Turned out the propane bottle I own was empty when I went to install it, so I'm not evaluating the performance here, but I have a strong suspicion everthing will work just fine. I have very warm thoughts about this product. I have no doubt you will warm up to it too.

5Simple to use..  Jun 05, 2008
By S. Hastings
We got this product as a gift and find it wonderful. It was so simple to put together. I do have to agree with the other reviewer that it was a tiny bit hard to mate the gas line to it's fitting, however, we removed the cover that covers the 'mating' area and voila!, they snapped together very easily. I don't think it could be done without removing the cover. I think assembly took all of 15 minutes at most and was done by one person.

As for its' heating ability...we have a 14' x 20' deck and it heats it perfectly, no issues.

3Summer Ended  Nov 28, 2009

I have owned this product for 5 years. When the unit is on and the outside temp is 45F, 4-6 people can sit in chairs around the unit comfortably. The heat control knob allows adjustment over a range of gas (heat) levels. With 5mph breeze, the wind-exposed side tends to go cold. The mesh is not stainless steel and mine is looking rusty, sagged, and worn as we are a few miles from the ocean. The white paint has held up well over time. I transport the heater to storage before rain. From day one, the ignition unit has been finicky. The autospark button requires a good push and responds with a loud bang, although the pilot doesn't necessarily light. I will be contacting the manufacturer for an ignition repair kit as I can't get the unit to light even using a butane lighter wand. The heater has done the job but I wish replacement parts were easier to get.
